The Coldwater & Area Conservation Club responded to the information in early October that effective March 2007, the Federal Department of Natural Resources would no longer be in the business of printing topographical maps throughout Canada. Since these maps are used by anglers, hunters, trappers and others in the outdoor community stopping the production of these maps are of concern to those who use the outdoors for a variety of activities.
In responce to the club's letters of concern replies have been received from The Honourable Gary Lunn, P.C., M.P., Minister of Natural Resources and from Mr. Bruce Stanton, M.P. - Simcoe North.
Honourable Gary Lunn indicates that upon hearing the former government's plans to eliminate the production of maps, he has reversed the decision. The option of both paper and electronic versions will continue to be offered.
Mr. Bruce Stanton, M.P. Simcoe North reaffirmed Hon. Gary Lunn's decision to continue to supply high quality, current geospatial information either directly or through private-sector distributors in either paper or electronic formats.
